Cpt_ACE:Question:
"The second part of my question is concerning gpu melting compared to Crysis 3. During a future rig build discussion somebody wrote he believes SC will stress GPUs much more at highest details settings than Crysis 3 does. Due to polycount being much higher. While I always figured gpu meliting wise they'll be in the same ballpark due to more forgiving SC environments (space, stations, interior of ships, cities vs crazy *** lush jungle foliage, streams, lakes) offsetting the higher polycount of characters,ships,buildings...
Now I am not looking for exact numbers as you prolly don't know that yet. But an experienced Cryengine guru like yourself prolly already has a gutfeeling about it. So what does your gut tell you. A rig that plays Crysis 3 on highest detail setting at 60 fps (1920x1080). Will it play fully optimized SQ42/SC release version at the same ballpark framerates (50-70) or considerably lower framerates (<40)?"
Technical Designer - Dan Tracy:Answer:
"In regards to FPS and performance, well I doubt it's likely that we'll hit a solid 60 FPS as there's plenty of transitional zones that will stream in new assets just before rendering. It's true that we're budgeting for highly polygon count especially since this latest technology on GPUs can totally handle it and the fact that the majority of outter space is empty allowing for high rez set pieces, however that doesn't excuse drawcalls, shaders, and texture sizes. If these budgets get out of hand then we're in trouble. But if we hit anything <30 FPS with that rig you decribe, then I'm not doing my job
